This four bedroom detached house is situated in one of the most unique and spectacular locations in the whole of Kent or South East England .
It stands on a private beach on a private estate with a clear and unobstructed panoramic view that looks out over Seasalter Bay to the Isle of Sheppey and clear across the Thames Estuary to the coastline of Essex .
Two sets of World War Two gun
platform Towers provide a backdrop for the continous movement of large
sea going vessels which move across the horizon heading for distant ports
passing others on their way into the Thames .
One of the few North facing coastlines in the Country where else can you wake up and see Herons fishing peacefully in the shallows . Dozens of different seabirds feeding on the tidal flats . Flocks of Brent geese resting from the rigours of their thousand mile flights to warmer climes .
One never to be forgotten morning we saw an Osprey take a fish and then sit
on one of the groynes to enjoy its breakfast . Seals can be seen and have
been on the beach . A Dolphin recently made its way into Whitstable
Harbour bringing back memories of visiting a stranded and doomed 60 ft
whale on a local beach . . Shoals of Mullet and Bass glitter and flash alongside
the beach leaping out of the way of any water borne passers by .
This is a watersport paradise . You can fish . swim . sail , windsurf , canoe
or jetski outside your own house or simply sit on the deserted sea wall and
stare into the distance watching your own boat laying quietly at your own
free mooring . With no through traffic sometimes the only sound will be the
waves expending their energy on the beach before vanishing back into the sea
. Some days the sea is so calm it is like glass with becalmed yachts and dinghies
reflected on the mirror surface .
As the Sun moves around to its Summer Equinox the house shimmers in the wonderful
red glow of some of the most beautiful sunsets even seen in this country .
Sitting on the balcony watching the fiery
red ball disappear under the far horizon is one of the most spectacular
evenings you can spend . And it happens night after night
The house was built in 1977 for the present owner . It has four bedrooms ,
two bathrooms , a spacious kitchen , a large through lounge and integral garage
. It is sometimes difficult to know whether to sit and gaze out at a rear
garden full of flowers or simply move to the other window and watch the endless
vista of the ocean .
Upstairs there is a fantastic sun room with a floor to ceiling glass atrium
which includes a lovely stained glass inset of a yacht under full sail ..
Large stormproof double patio doors lead on to the extensive balcony where
you can sit and watch the world go by from Sheppey at one extreme to Whitstable
Harbour on the right .
There is front and rear access to the house . The garden at the rear is approximately
60 feet with a large patio , extensive grass and a greenhouse . At the height
of summer a dozen hanging baskets blaze with colour complimenting the low
patio double wall flower beds full of Begonias and Bizzy Lizzies . A large
garden swing along with a modern table and chairs complete with huge free
standing umbrella completes the picture . At the front there is a gravel drive
and lawn which runs to the property border and parking both front and rear.
The private road is gravel rolled tarmac after which a well kept grassy bank
leads down to the beach . The elevation of around 50 feet eliminates any flooding
threat which is reflected in the house insurance premiums .
To watch a summer storm thread the night sky with lightning which reflects
on the water is a fantastic experience . You can see for miles as the blinding
flashes illuminate the whole bay .
It is the most wonderful place to live . The best place ever to bring up a
family free from the fear of traffic and the threats of modern day living
. Even on Bank Holidays the beach remains quiet and peaceful with just one
or two families taking advantage of our wonderful location .
The port of Dover
is a few miles down the road . The Motorway M2 gives easy access to London
some 55 miles and 1 hours drive on the newly improved M2.
Not far but far enough to make you believe you are a thousand miles away .
The Channell Tunnel is 30 minutes easy drive . You can be shopping in France
or at Gatwick Airport in the other direction in just one hour .
The Eurostar terminal at Ashford means Paris is just three hours away . DisneyWorld
, shopping and fantastic French food available as a day trip . Bluewater and
Lakeside shopping centres are three quarters of an hour in another direction
. The M2.M20/M25 motorway complex means Devon is just four hours driving along
with Longleat , Chessington , Windsor and Blenheim Palace .
Truly a unique location for access and living .
Whitstable is a small seaside town with a working harbour importing stone and wood with locally caught fresh fish and shellfish for sale in waterside premises . Art galleries and well known restaurants thrive amongst the antique and bric a brac shops as the Whitstable population grows ever more cosmopolitan as its reputation for a relaxing way of life spreads wider .
The Estate is approximately a mile from the town or just a pleasant walk along
the beach .
The Cathedral town of Canterbury is just 7 miles away with its plethora of
well known shops and
shopping chains jostling with myriads of restaurants and places to visit
. The glorious Cathedral invites you to stroll through its cool calm historic
interior or you can simply walk along the beautiful riverside gardens of the
Stour as it wanders through the City or take a boat ride to see the virtually
unknown and hidden sights and sounds .
In the other direction nature reserves and deserted beaches offer peace and solitude to the enthusiastic walker all the way from Seasalter to the market town of Faversham with its famed Shepheard Neame Brewery .
